So since my last post, which apparently was in Februray (egad!), I've done a few cons and a couple of faires (most of the photos, of which, still need to be edited).
Anyway, here's a few pictures from Wizard World L.A. and Anime Expo. Still working on the Comic-Con photos.
Even though Comic-Con was practically 2 months ago, I still like to look back on it and sigh with a fondness equal to longing for a love who's gone away to war or something cheesy romantic like that.
I miss you, Comic-Con. I shall return to you soon, dearest, and what hell there should be for the man who tries to wrest me from your softness once more.
OK, OK. I know. It's just a convention, but it's oh-so-much more. It leaves you gasping in pleasure, praying to the ceiling for more and it delivers.
Details in my LiveJournal, but in the meantime... PICTURES!
^ Masi Oka with Tim Kring representing "Heroes" at the TV Guide panel.
^ Neil Gaiman at the panel spotlight on him. The night prior, I was sitting not 4 feet away from him at the "Stardust" screening. I got to ask him a question and was given a signed poster. Nearly swooned thinking about it just now.
So while this is rather late, July was an AMAZING month for me. It not only was Comic-Con down in San Diego, but Anime Expo (in Long Beach), the Labyrinth Masquerade (in Hollywood), and I saw Weird Al Yankovic perform his Straight Outta Lynwood tour at the Orange County Fair.
Since I'm still in the process of editing all of the photos, here's a taste of Anime Expo at least. I volunteered to work this year, so I didn't have to spend much on food or anything really (since AX feeds its workers).
I got to see the Death Note movies, the special Tekkonkinkreet screening, I saw Gackt's new band S.K.I.N. perform in the LB Arena and went to a few cosplay meet-ups.
I can't express how much of a nut I am for fan gatherings. Every single one of them feels like a homecoming no matter where I am.
Cons I've been to or frequent:
San Diego Comic-Con -- 6 years
Anime Expo -- 6 years
Wizard World L.A. -- 5 years (it started in '04)
Cirque du Rockeil (the 30th anniversary con for Rocky Horror in Las Vegas)
Strategicon -- Lost count of how many times I've gone
Bruce Con (Also called L.A. Sci-Fi and Fantasy Con) -- Also lost count.
Gen Con L.A.
Pacific Media Expo
LebowskiFest L.A.
Xena Con
Star Wars Celebration IV
California Comic Book Convention
I've also done fan gatherings like Labyrinth of Jareth Masquerade, the Mallrats Reunion, and various cosplay parties. I've danced in the world's largest Time Warp at the Rocky Horror 30th anniversary show at the Hollywood Bowl, zombie walked with 'Shaun of the Dead' fanatics, and shown up in full vinyl trench coat wear to a Matrix showing in Hollywood.
