About Me
I'm the kind of person who avidly celebrates Talk Like a Pirate Day, Dia de los Muertos and Oktoberfest (but not Christmas, Thanksgiving or Easter), prefers going to the drive-in and taking the train instead, and is guilty of at least 20 of the things listed on the Geek Hierarchy (and so many other things that aren't even on the chart).
I used to be a part of the Rocky Horror Picture Show cast Midnight Insanity.
I'm currently the photographer/drum tech/roadie for local metal band Voidcrush.
* More faire photos coming soon. I rarely get any photos of myself in garb as I'm usually the one behind the camera. ;P
Music
Poxy Boggards, Flogging Molly, Dr. Demento, Stephen Lynch
Movies
I'm just someone who likes to be entertained.
My list of favorites really could go on forever, but to name a few: Hedwig and the Angry Inch, Rosencrantz and Guildenstern are Dead, Battle Royale, Kung Fu Hustle, Cannibal! The Musical, The Big Lebowski, Orgazmo, A Mighty Wind, 300, the Indiana Jones trilogy, and anything out of the View Askewniverse (Kevin Smith's Red Bank saga)
TV
Heroes, Firefly, My Name is Earl, Mythbusters, Xena: Warrior Princess, Extreme Ghostbusters, Brisco County Junior, and many other canceled shows and cartoons.
I tend to gravitate toward the History and Discovery channels (if the TV has cable), but otherwise I don't actively watch so much any more.
Books
American Gods, Brave New World, Preacher, 100 Bullets, Watchmen, anything by Neil Gaiman.
I have a decent collection of comics, graphic novels and manga (Japanese comics).
Hobbies
I frequently go to faires, conventions, museums, zombie walks, and all sorts of festivals.
Vices
Conventions (seriously, crack would be cheaper).
Heroes
Carmen Sandiego, Fa Mulan, Frida Kahlo, Bobby Henderson
So since my last post, which apparently was in Februray (egad!), I've done a few cons and a couple of faires (most of the photos, of which, still need to be edited).
Anyway, here's a few pictures from Wizard World L.A. and Anime Expo. Still working on the Comic-Con photos.
Even though Comic-Con was practically 2 months ago, I still like to look back on it and sigh with a fondness equal to longing for a love who's gone away to war or something cheesy romantic like that.
I miss you, Comic-Con. I shall return to you soon, dearest, and what hell there should be for the man who tries to wrest me from your softness once more.
OK, OK. I know. It's just a convention, but it's oh-so-much more. It leaves you gasping in pleasure, praying to the ceiling for more and it delivers.
Details in my LiveJournal, but in the meantime... PICTURES!
^ Masi Oka with Tim Kring representing "Heroes" at the TV Guide panel.
^ Neil Gaiman at the panel spotlight on him. The night prior, I was sitting not 4 feet away from him at the "Stardust" screening. I got to ask him a question and was given a signed poster. Nearly swooned thinking about it just now.
So while this is rather late, July was an AMAZING month for me. It not only was Comic-Con down in San Diego, but Anime Expo (in Long Beach), the Labyrinth Masquerade (in Hollywood), and I saw Weird Al Yankovic perform his Straight Outta Lynwood tour at the Orange County Fair.
Since I'm still in the process of editing all of the photos, here's a taste of Anime Expo at least. I volunteered to work this year, so I didn't have to spend much on food or anything really (since AX feeds its workers).
I got to see the Death Note movies, the special Tekkonkinkreet screening, I saw Gackt's new band S.K.I.N. perform in the LB Arena and went to a few cosplay meet-ups.
Time was I would post EVERYTHING in my LiveJournal, but lately I've just not been in the mood to throw together an update. Oh well.
The last couple times at faire were pretty sweet, but I neglected to take many pictures.
I had finally met Sound & Fury's new "third guy" Vinny, a couple weeks back. While Phil, the previous "third guy," was really funny, Vinny's really personable. You just want to put him in your pocket and take him home with you. ^_^
So a few pics:
Tappy, the bodhran player from Poxy Boggards.
Shelby!
Richard and Shelby telling a story together for their improv show.
Brandon and I also went to Metal Jam 2007 in Huntington Beach. Lots of positive energy and great noise to head bang to.
